Anthony Head
“Ted Lasso” star Anthony Head died on June 5. The actor was 72. Speaking to BBC, his daughters shared, “He passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family.”
While Head’s role on “Ted Lasso” will no doubt be top of mind for his fans, ’90s and early ’00s kids also remember his role on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” as a mentor to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s titular character, Rupert Giles. Gellar shared a sweet post about her late co-star to Instagram, writing, “‘Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok’ Well I don’t have it figured out and I’m not ok. But I know I’m the lucky one because I knew you.” Gellar also sent love to Head’s daughters, sharing, “Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, but with the world.” Harlan Coben, author of “The Stranger,” on which a series by the same name featuring Head was based, also shared a sweet tribute via Instagram. “You’ll be reading a lot of wonderful things about him in the coming days. Believe them. He was charming and erudite and funny and open and friendly and so damn talented. He brought joy and warmth and sparkle and wonder to every room he entered,” Coben gushed.
